But boy was I surprised! >From the first moment I fell in love with Beta, the language, and I was fascinated by the idea of 'Programming in UML' - the latter, however, required me to use the mjolner tool. And I must admit I did not like the mjolner tool, I found it awkward, and it had some nasty tendencies towards me as well, it did not like idiots, and it definitely considered me to be one. So, I made syntax files for Nedit and made some Beta programs that I was quite proud of. Now, all that has changed!! This new mjolner tool looks like the old one, but it hasn't thrown me off once, just told me when I did something stupid, and let me correct it! All my Beta programming will now happen using mjolner! I am currently trying out the Linux version, my Ultra 10 will get it's install a little later. I am also running JBuilder5 (and may 6 if I can get the documentation to install) - but for that I need to cut out a portion of my hide to pay for an Ultra 10 memory upgrade. JBuilder6 that to install the doc and samples, JBuilder5 installs and requires 128Mb to say 'Hello', 256-512Mb to run without stopping for swap every time you press 'Help'. Combine with another Windows-only bloat called Rational Rose, and you get Mjolner capability for Java, probably requiring some half gigabyte to run together, and probably about as well integrated as a Norwegian in Belgium :-) Even without mentioning such extremely inefficient superbloats, the Mjolner Beta System is still the most impressive programming tool I have ever seen. I ran mjolner 5.2.1 on my 16Mb 16-bit Amstrad 486SLC-33 with no problem at all. Now that the mjolner tool has become so attractive, this system must conquer the world. Thanks, guys, pralines will be coming! Atle (PS: I am currently taking a course in AI at the Open University, we use a system called Flex. Would it be OK if I gave my tutor a homeburned ISO image to let him see how great this system would be as an AI tool? :PS) (PS2: How much work would it be to add context-sensitive help [F1] to the source editor? This was the feature I most appreciated in Turbo Pascal, and later Turbo C, and for the price of an additional 128Mb, I now got it in JBuilder - I have quite a few ideas on how that should be implemented :PS2)
