But there is really one thing I do not like much: It`s the binding between Beta and the Motif/Lesstif Toolkit for writing GUI applications. It's clear that at the time the first Beta sytems were released, Motif was the standard on Unix/Linux systems. I guess this situation has changed a bit these days. There do exist toolkits like Qt and GTk. I'm personally somewhat familiar with the Qt toolkit, which is the base of the KDE desktop environment on Unix/Linux. On the one hand, I think it would be a great benefit for the Beta language/environment to fit with, say, the Qt toolkit. On the other hand, I'm quite sure such a binding is not easy to establish (Qt is a C++ toolkit and does not only use C++ but extends it e.g. with the signal/slot mechanism). So my question is: Are there any ongoing efforts or plans to bring together Beta and the Qt toolkit ? Maybe there are any (free) implementations out there ? Any suggestions and opinions welcome, Greetings Thomas -- Dipl.-Inform.(Univ) Thomas Petz mailto:Thomas.Petz@t-online.de
