A prototype of a complete new debugger with a much large platform independence than the previous one is currently being tested on Sun platforms. I dont know when it will be available for the other platforms inclucing Macintosh. I hope it will be in the near future. Progress is also being made on porting the newests version of Sif to Macintosh. The problem so far has been that different platform dependent GUIs were used for the Mac/Motif versions of Sif and that it was a large amount of work to keep Sif up-to-date on both platforms. A new platform independent GUI, called Lidskjalv, has been developed and it is currently being tested on Motif, Windows/NT and Macintosh. This framework will make it possible to write platform independent GUIs. Lidskjalv has already been used to implement platform independent versions of the distributed hypermedia (Cacm, Feb. 94) Sif is currently being rewritten using Lidskjalv. When this is done, Sif should be available for the Macintosh. Again, I cannot give a specific date, but hopefully this summer. The developers at Mjolner Informatics read this group. Due to Easter, most businesses are currently closed in Demark, but I am sure they will answer the rest of your questions after Easter. I dont know enough details to give an answer. ---olm >Baiss E.
