Object Orientation has proved to be a good approach for software
development in a university setting as well as in industry, and many
educators think it should play an important part in software
education. The Eiffel language - developed in 1985 by Dr. Bertrand
Meyer - is very well suited for learning the object-oriented paradigm
because of its clarity and simplicity.

The conference-workshop, which is intended for teachers and students
in both universities and secondary schools, will give an introduction
and an overall view of the scientific background and the practical use
of Eiffel. Dr. Meyer and some other authors of Eiffel textbooks will
participate and give talks. There will be presentations and
discussions about object-oriented thinking as a foundation for good
programmingand its role in software education. Time will be reserved
for input from participants and comparisons of pedagogical
experiences.

The event will mostly be of tutorial nature and is designed to enable
participants to teach object-oriented concepts succeessfully. The
tutorial presentations will be complemented by invited papers.
