The ultimate source of information on the BETA language is: Ole Lehrmann Madsen, Birger Møller-Pedersen, Kristen Nygaard: "Object-Oriented Programming in the BETA Programming Language" Addison-Wesley and ACM Press, 1993 ISBN 0-201-62430-3 The Mjølner BETA System and the BETA language is also extensively described in the book: Jørgen Lindskov Knudsen, Mats Löfgren, Ole Lehrmann Madsen, Boris Magnusson (eds.): "Object-Oriented Environments: The Mjølner Approach" Prentice-Hall, 1993 ISBN 0-13-009291-6 >2. What will be the availability date for the windows/windows95 version of >BETA? The Win95 version is available now. However, an official announcement of this fact have been delayed. Contact us for details. >3. Are there plans to make BETA available under OS/2? Just started Dec. 1 is a project on porting BETA onto OS/2 on PowerPC. This consists in OS interface and PowerPC code generation. Since the OS interface is the same as in Intel-based platforms, and since we already are delivering Intel-based code genaration on Win95, we expect OS/2 on Intel-based platforms to appear real soon after the PowerPC port. >4. What kind of tools will be included in the windows version? Included will be the entire development platform (except the CASE tool). >5. Is there any plan to make a downloadable demo version of BETA version >available via the WWW shortly? We are considering this - until then, the Personal Edition version which costs 60$ usually is an attractive offer. >6. Where is BETA used (apart from Denmark, Germany and Sweden)? Is it used > anywhere in industry? Mostly R&D departments, but I do not have the details. Just a side note: I am the person responsible for the BETA WWW responce service, and I am sorry, that I haven't answered these questions, following your questions in the BETA WWW responce section, but the e-mail address, that you gave me in the WWW form unfortunately did not work (mail bounced). I am happy, that you didn't give up, but used the newsgroup instead.
