Great to see a newsgroup up and running for BETA. I hope that anyone just dropping in for a `look-see' takes the time to take a good look at BETA: it is a great language with some fantastic features well supported by some good tools and the very friendly folks at Mjolner Informatics (Hi guys, my Linux system alpha report will be there real soon now :-) IMHO, after using the Linux alpha edition for a few weeks now, its a great system and a great language. I hope to see plenty of discussion about peoples impression and experiences with BETA and all and any issues related to BETA. Here's one to start the ball rolling. BETA has a programming interface to C (I haven't really checked it out yet). Does this allow interfacing to C++ code as well or are more interface constructs for e.g. C++ classes required? Will it be possible at any stage to incorporate C++ objects into BETA program executions? BTW, for anybody looking for info, the WWW pages for info about BETA and the language FAQ are: http://www.daimi.aau.dk/~beta/beta-language-faq.html http://www.daimi.aau.dk/~beta/info Have fun with BETA (cos' BETA really is BETTA) Cheers, Lachlan ------------------------------------------------------------------- Lachlan Witham law@tauon.ph.unimelb.edu.au PhD student Micro Analytical Research Centre School of Physics University of Melbourne, Australia -- ------------------------------------------------------------------- Lachlan Witham law@tauon.ph.unimelb.edu.au PhD student Micro Analytical Research Centre School of Physics University of Melbourne, Australia JOB 1: Experimental Physicist in Compound Semiconductor Devices JOB 2: Programmer in C for device drivers, BETA for simulations, Tk/Tcl for GUI's....and FORTRAN to put myself in a mental asylum.
