I'm looking for information on BETA.  I'm compiling information on
object oriented languages.  Here are my questions:

What is BETA's history?  

What is BETA's reason for being.

What is BETA best for?

How does it compare to other OO languages, especially c++, Eiffel and 
SmallTalk.
